Responsibilities
From Key Arts
If your proposal is accepted then we will send you a form containing these points which you will need to sign to confirm you will work within them.
When you use St Mary-at-the-Quay you will be responsible for:
1. Collecting and returning the keys from The Town Hall Galleries and ensuring the premises are locked up securely when you are not there. A deposit of £15 will be taken for the keys and returned at the end of your event / residency.
2. Publicising the event. You can find guidelines for this here.
3. Invigilating the event for it's duration. Key Arts will provide a 'chaperone' named contact who can advise if any issues or further queries should arise.
4. Insuring your own work and equipment, if required. Our insurance only covers basic public liability and not your work or possessions. If in doubt, please ask, as we also need to inform the insurers so they will cover larger events.
5. Displaying the visitors’ book and using the day book to record visitor numbers. We may need to use this for funding applications in the future.
6. Funding private view / event refreshments. It is possible to reclaim the costs of this in donations at your event.
7. Keeping the church clean and tidy at all times. The church is sometimes open to the public by the Churches Conservation Trust (manned) so please ensure it will be presentable for the next opening day. All work must be removed at the end of the exhibition/residency. No work can be stored in the church after the exhibition.
8. Making your own arrangements for installation and taking down of the work and give clear details of dates and times of opening of the exhibition/residency. If you use the boards ensure they are made good and repainted if necessary.
9. Limited use of candles is allowed with restrictions following CCT guidelines. Please enquire for further details.
10. You must not: a. Drill into the fabric of the church b. Make any marks on the floors, walls or pillars c. Interfere in any way with the altar without specific permission d. Hang anything from the fabric of the church e. Use water as a major part of the work
