Pulse Festival - Juliet Holton
From Key Arts
THE PROCESS OF PAINTING In Progress!
By: Juliet Holton
5th-7th June.
Friday 5th June: 6 to 8pm. Other days: 11am to 5pm
Artist talk 2pm Sunday 14th June
Demonstrations during the first weekend and an exhibition of the work produced during the second weekend. Juliet will be at Key Arts talking about her work in the afternoon of Sunday 14th June, all welcome.
Juliet Holton participated in Pulse 2008 with an exhibition of new paintings. This year she has been invited back as resident at Key Arts’ St Mary on the Quay. Juliet’s work focuses on the process of paint. She uses a variety of mediums including gloss, oil, ink, varnish, acrylic, spray paint and pastels to produce Action Paintings, a style in which paint is dribbled or splashed onto the surface instead of being carefully applied.
This year she will engage viewers through the physical act of painting itself, this time involving the audience in the process.
You are invited to donate paint and bring your own surfaces (2-d/ 3-d) for her to respond to or incorporate into the ‘action’.
Through the live creation of new work viewers have the chance to see how the artist works, and the artist can experience how the viewer responds to the process. Each can engage in reciprocal discussion as fresh outcomes are revealed.
The event is open to all. To learn how you can become part of Juliet’s Process of Painting contact Julia Devonshire, Arts Project Officer, Ipswich Borough Council:
